Visual Arts Resources with MCA
A number of brand new resources have been created in partnership with the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia featuring the work of three exciting Australian artists, Esme Timbery, Daniel Boyd and Hayden Fowler, whose art practice involves visual art and media art.

Family Tides
Esme Timbery is an elder of the La Perouse Indigenous community in New South Wales. Through this resource, students explore her contemporary work which celebrates the traditional practice of shell working. This art making practice has been handed down through the generations of the Timbery matriarchal line.

Shifting The Scale
The work of Aboriginal artist Daniel Boyd interrogates Australia’s colonial narrative. Students will explore the theme of appropriation and use the conventions of social media to shape artworks that offer alternative perspectives.

A New World Order
Nature documentary meets post-apocalypse sci-fi in the work of media artist Hayden Fowler. His degree in biology intersects with his art practice around ideas of humanity and nature, using video photography, installation and performance. Students explore nature and their place in it through a range of art making activities.
